BLOOD SYNDICATE, ICON AND HERU

THE NOW DEFUNCT BLOOD SYNDICATE WAS A FAVORITE OF MINE, I WAS REALLY UPSET WHEN THEY STOPPED MAKING THEM..I'M GLAD I GOT AS MANY AS I COULD.
IF YOU SEE ANY...HOLLA.

The Blood Syndicate is a fictional multicultural gang of superhumans created by Milestone Comics and published by DC Comics. The team first appeared in Blood Syndicate #1 (April 1993), and was created by Dwayne McDuffie, Ivan Velez Jr. and Denys Cowan.

In Milestone Comics' fictional city of Dakota, the Blood Syndicate is a loose affiliation of super-powered individuals brought together by circumstance; 35 issues of their eponymous comic book, written largely by Ivan Velez, Jr., were published between 1993 and 1996.

The Blood Syndicate differed from other supergroups in that they were (in Velez's words) "not a team - they're a gang". In fact, they were the surviving remnants of multiple street gangs (thus the name, a combination of "Paris Island Bloods" and "Force Syndicate"), who had gained superpowers in the so-called Big Bang, and decided to use them for a greater purpose. However, their constant in-fighting, the unsustainability of their methods, and their lack of a central vision (particularly after the death of their first leader) led to the Syndicate's eventual disintegration.

Static is a fictional character, a comic book superhero published by DC Comics and a member of the Teen Titans. An original character from DC's Milestone Comics imprint, Static first appears in Static #1 (April 1993) and was created by Dwayne McDuffie and John Paul Leon. There is no relation between this character and the much earlier Static character created and owned by Steve Ditko.

McDuffie has stated that the creation of Static was a group effort. Originally developed for Marvel Comics, Static would become a main staple of the Milestone Comics line. Much of the inspiration for Static's character came from Marvel's Spider-Man. When intitally creating the first five characters for the Milestone Comic Book Line, it was decided that Static would be created as a teenage hero who was a contemporary version of Spider-Man. An African American, Static was a key character of Milestone Comics, an independently-owned imprint of DC Comicsminority heroes. Milestone folded in 1997 but Static was saved from obscurity by the WB animated series Static Shock, which aired for four seasons and led to the 2001 comic book miniseries Static Shock: Rebirth of the Cool.

Icon is a fictional superhero, a comic book character published by DC Comics. An original character from DC's Milestone Comics imprint, he first appeared in Icon #1 (May 1993), and was created by Dwayne McDuffie and Denys Cowan.

In 1839, an alien starliner malfunctioned and exploded, and a jettisoned lifepod crashed in the middle of a cotton field in the American South. The pod automatically altered the appearance of its passenger named Arnus to mimic the first sentient life-form who discovered him. That life-form was a slave woman named Miriam, who saw the pod crash land. And so it happened that Miriam found inside a baby boy with her mother's eyes.

In the present, Arnus is still with us. He did not age visibly beyond adulthood; to disguise this fact, he periodically assumed the identity of his own son. By the late 20th century, he was posing as Augustus Freeman IV, the great-grandson of his original human identity. Still marooned, Augustus waits for Earth's technology to catch up to his lifepod's. Secretly possessing superpowers that belie his human appearance, he has always performed quiet acts of charity. But one night, Augustus' house is broken into, and he uses his powers for the first time in decades, an action witnessed by Raquel Ervin.

Raquel is an idealistic teenage girl who was born in Paris Island, the poorest, most gang-ridden neighborhood in Dakota. Her prospects seemed fairly bleak until a chance encounter with Augustus Freeman IV. After seeing him use his powers, Raquel persuaded Augustus to become a superhero named Icon, with herself as his sidekick, Rocket.

As told in an ancient Egyptian legend, the jealous snake-like Seth killed the sun-god Ausar, cut his body into fourteen parts, and threw the pieces into the fourteen corners of the world. His grieving wife, Aset, searched for the pieces of her dead husband and lovingly put him back together again. When she laid down exhausted by her husband’s body, she became pregnant with Heru. She gave him to the people of Kemet, an old African empire along the banks of the Nile River. This title brings the classic African mythology into the world of comics, as Heru, blessed with a few gifts from his father, such as the ability to communicate with animals and to blast enemies away with a gaze from his eyes, renews his father’s pledge to guard the people who raised him against the evil Seth.

This comic was one of the premiere titles from ANIA, the Association of Black Comic Book Publishers.
1993

He is the embodiment of vengeance, the faceless arm of those who cannot defend themselves.
