I love Dick Gregory but he talkin some bs right here ... I've known of two cats that died because they drank gutter water polluted with anti-freeze that dripped out of cars. It's one of the reason a vet will tell you not to let your cats stay outside without a good clean water source.
anti-freeze is appealing to animals because of it's "sweet" aroma and taste to them. Regardless of what kind of water it's in, they'll drink it because of the anti-freeze itself. i do believe there's some truth to the cat/dog theory. i've witnessed my cat not drink tap water because in haste, i forget to let the water run for 30 seconds or more before filling her cup (yeah, a cup). she'll go thirsty before drinking it. when i give her filtered tap water (like i drink), she'll drink it like she's dying of thirst.
I had a dog that wouldnt drink water when it was first put out, even if he was panting....of course they will drink anything if they are starving...but animals have a sixth sense about things that we don't...actually we probably still have that ability but its been opressed because we depend on everyone but ourselves to provide nourishment, we dont grow our own food, our water is treated with chemicals and contaminated with hormones and drugs that dont get caught with filters....we are numb to what our body really needs and thats why we are SICK.

This is one time. I was literally just in the hospital (the ER) for not drinking enough body. My body was shutting down. This is very interesting.
PEOPLE do not believe it, but it's true.
